Hikes to the First World War fortified positions on the “Dolomites Front”

The tunnel system in the “Piccolo Lagazuoi” mountain is at the heart of an initiative whose aim is to open up the remains, which bear witness to the Great War, and to preserve them as an open-air museum.

“Törggelen” weeks - from 11.10. to 27.10.2008
|
The word “Törggelen” comes from the Latin “Torculum”, which means “wine press”, known as a “Torggl” in South Tyrol. When the wine press has done its job and the new wine is gurgling in the barrels, then everyone gets together to try the new vintage. Traditionally, this tasting, or “Törggelen”, is tied in with a mountain hike. It is also an opportunity for people to enjoy those gifts of nature that ripen in the autumn: “Keschtn” (chestnuts), “Nussn” (nuts), together with all varieties of pork and the particularly popular speciality homemade sausages with cabbage.
